Principal Structural Engineer (Defence & Security)

Remote (UK) with occasional site visits | Permanent | Up to £75,000 (DOE) | Security Clearance required

A leading organisation working on high-impact Defence & Security programmes is looking for a Principal Structural Engineer to take technical ownership across complex, safety-critical projects. If you enjoy solving challenging engineering problems, leading teams, and seeing designs through from concept to construction, this is a strong step-up opportunity with real autonomy and influence.



What you'll be doing

  • Leading and delivering complex structural engineering work across multiple projects
  • Acting as the senior technical authority, providing guidance, direction, and design assurance
  • Managing and supporting design teams, including mentoring engineers
  • Coordinating with multidisciplinary stakeholders (clients, contractors, internal engineering teams)
  • Producing and reviewing technical reports, calculations, and design documentation
  • Ensuring all work is delivered to required safety, quality, and compliance standards


What we're looking for

  • Significant experience delivering structural design in complex engineering environments
  • Comfortable taking ownership as a technical lead / principal engineer (design authority mindset)
  • Strong stakeholder management and the ability to communicate clearly at all levels
  • Degree (or equivalent) in Structural Engineering (or a closely related discipline)
  • Must be a British national and able to obtain/hold the appropriate UK security clearance (or already security cleared)
